Microbiology

Microbiology activities at IRIS Biomiljø have - during the last decade or more - mainly been within the areas of:
bioremediation in the marine environment, biodegradation of petroleum in the marine environment (both sediments, water phase and deep water), microbial improved oil recovery (MEOR), microbial corrosion and composting. Studies have been conducted addressing
cutting piles, marine sediments, produced water, core samples, shallow- and deep sea waters.

The experimental systems we have used include - amongst others - micromodel and coreflood systems for MEOR studies, high pressure cells and systems for studies of deep water degradation, anaerobic and aerobic growth systems, flow and batch systems for studies of corrosion, batch, column and artificial beach systems for studies of bioremediation and cuttings piles degradation.
