Skills in aquaculture hatchery and rearing technologies. Also skills in development of biological models and software design.
Lead research projects on biological effects of petroleum hydrocarbons in marine waters.
Lead several oceanographic surveys in the North Sea and offshore West Africa.
Lectured at university courses and supervised master/doctor students in zoophysiology and ecotoxicology (Univ. Trondheim/Univ. Plymouth).
Lead projects on biological software development.
Experiences
1994 - IRIS research director at Akvamiljø Research Centre (previously Elf Akvamiljø Research Centre) Key involvements: Completion of an advanced research centre. Main research subjects on petroleum hydrocarbons: biomarkers of exposure and effects, adaptation of the biomarkers approach for monitoring in extreme environments (desert, arctic and deep-sea). Participated in several oceanographic cruises as scientist or cruise responsible: Gulf of Guinea, Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Barents Sea, Norwegian Sea, North Sea. Participated in several international field studies: the EU financed “Oilspill on mudflat” project in Texel (NL), an environmental campaign in the Loire estuary (F) financed by Total.
1993-94 RF-Rogaland Research, sector for Industry and Environment. Senior scientist within Dept. of Marine Environment. Responcible for an EU Eureka project on microbial degradation of oilspill (BIOREN).
1992-93 ALLFORSK, University of Trondheim. Scientist within Deptartment of Ecotoxicology. One of the initiator and involved in establishment of this department. Special responcibility: establishment and running of an advanced electrophysiological laboratory on the application of intracellular microelectrodes.
1985-93 Department of Zoology, University of Trondheim. Research assistant within the BECTOS program (“Biological effects of chemical Treatment of oilspill at Sea”, coordinated by SINTEF, financed by FINA Exploration Norway).
